The showy and brightly colored Kohleria blooms are what make this plant such a standout. The flowers can have beautifull patterns of spots or lines. The plant and leaves are generally hairy. Kohleria are in the family of Gloxinieae. There can be some confusion surrounding the names of the cultivated species. In 1992 Kvist & Skog did a revision of the genus.
